School has always had a strong outdoor pursuits program. It sees
the valuable role outdoor education plays in the character
development of the student. Each year, groups from primary to
sixth form have compulsory outdoor education activities. They are
provided by the school as part of the educational package (i.e. at
no extra costs.)

RUM DOODLE
AWARD

First
setup 8 years ago by Tim Cripps and Andy Thomas, this award
has fast become a very popular but testing challenge. Only
a handful of students managed to complete the 12 grueling
tests each year. It is chengelo's ultimate outdoor
challenge so far. It includes climbing Rum Doodle (Mt.
Sancha) and Mt. Mumpu. Running the 18km Rockridge
challenge...sleeping 70ft up in a tree on your own for the
night "solo", three rocks climbs;Wayres Wander,
Gregs Terror, Eagles Nest. White water rafting at Kapisya
Hot Springs, diving through a rock donut at Kundalila Falls,
and 3 jumps at the ropes cowse, Kamakazi, Big Swing and
Parachute jump. Not for the seriously outdoor minded!
