Ndubaluba
has grown incredibly over the last few years. Read on below to
find out about our history and where we came from. |
HISTORY
Neil Solomon was the first Headmaster of Chengelo School in 1988. He was the driving force behind the original Outdoor Pursuits programme of the school. Five years later, finishing as Headmaster, Neil and his wife Ruby , started Ndubaluba.
The name of the centre refers to a common bird known locally as the 'Ndubaluba bird'
(Lady Ross's Lourie). The centre's initial use was for 'A' Level correspondence courses but the vision was for an Outdoor Centre.
It was a time of great sadness when in 1996 Neil died. The Library at Chengelo is named after him. (His other great passion was books).
God's vision and the Solomon's inspiration lived on and Richard Thompson ran the Centre for Chengelo School. In the last six
years, Ndubaluba has developed into an Outdoor Centre catering, not only for Chengelo, but also overseas groups, local Government schools, schools for children with special needs,
corporations and independent schools in Zambia.
Ndubaluba is part of Chengelo School and has the an evangelistic outreach into Zambia and beyond. God has been faithful in His original vision for the Centre. New staff arrive as the facilities improve.

"Looking
back now, I must admit that even though it was tough and rough it was
certainly worth it. It was character building and taught me so much about
myself. It is an experience that has marked my life forever." - Nkem
